This work is an extensive project of consolidation, renovation, modernization, expansion, and refunctionalisation restoration of an old house, conducted between 2009 and 2011.

Located in the protected urban site in Arad, Ion Georgescu Street building no. 4 / A, built in the nineteenth century as a residential building. The renovation, expansion and bringing it to modern standards in terms of comfort and functions converted the existing building into a space for office units, apartment and private club, service apartments, hallways accessed from different areas, refering to the functional character.

The recipient wanted to keep its main facade but restore and refunctionalize the inner part . The concept emerged on the early intervention design, in 2009. He aims - at the EXTERIOR: restoring the frames with sensitivity and care , keeping the adjustment of the cornice of the building and inserting new elements with discretion and at the INTERIOR: the spaces created on the ground floor and basement that assume a respectful elegant image, while the mansard setting in the existing attic is done in an original modern way, which refuses any historical pastiche.

The main entrance to the building on the street Ion Georgescu, rises to the building, its height being brought to share with the cornice confort house.
The proposed extensions aimed at creating generous access to both office area and towards private club in the basement and the end, generating the necessary space private apartment. Given the different characters of building functions, it creates three bouts from the ground floor office area / private club, service apartments and private apartment respectively, the last two by logging into the courtyard. The space created in the basement will take advantage of the magnificent vaults of the house and the attic is used with maximum efficiency for the four apartments.

The building located in the center of Arad, exposes the public space of brick facade restored and ceramic tile roof covering, roof windows that integrates with discretion. Compliance attic axes of symmetry of the windows on the ground floor, maintains the historical appearance of the building and highlight its original architecture.
